The Purpose of Life

Wishing to find out the meaning of life

People ask themselves questions such as “Why do we exist?” or “Does my life have a purpose?“. The Bible shows us that our purpose in life is to tie a friendship with God. I invite you to meditate on some fundamental truths revealed in the pages of the Bible.

God is our Creator

The Bible states: “It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture.” (Psalm 100:3)

God has a purpose for everything that He makes, including us, people. “For this is what the Lord says-he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited“-he says: “I am the Lord, and there is no other.” (Isaiah 45:18)

God created us with “spiritual needs“, including the desire to find the meaning of life. He wants us to satisfy this desire. “You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing.” (Psalm 145: 16)

We meet our spiritual needs by tying a friendship with God. Although the idea of being God’s friend might seem impossible to some, the Bible gives the following exhortation: “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” (James 4:8)

To become friends with God, we must live our lives in harmony with His purpose for us. The Bible states this purpose in Ecclesiastes 12:13: “13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

In the future, we will be able to live in full harmony with God’s original purpose for us humans because He will eliminate suffering and grant eternal life to His friends, those who worship Him. “10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. 11 But the meek shall inherit the earth: and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.” (Psalm 37:10, 11).

Never lose faith. Godspeed.
